Math: We are going to take a quick review over adding and subtracting fractions using land plots and the division of sections of land. We will identify ownership of the size of land each "family" owns and then manipulate them to create specific fractional parts. We will then work with some recipes and adding amounts of ingredients that are needed. Students need to understand fractional relationships and meaning as we move forward to multiplying and dividing fractions. You may see some review of fraction skills homework coming home after Thanksgiving.

We are now working on a project that ties to that presentation to investigate what interests us the most within the Egyptian culture. Many are researching specific pyramids, ancient Egyptian foods, games children might have played, the mummification process, as well as other topics. Ask your child about their project, we hope to have these completed by the end of next week - Nov. 22nd. Thanks for your help!
In math we have been covering many skills. We have been reviewing and working on area and perimeter skills, as well as studying the metric system and converting between units. Ask your child about King Hector. We have also reviewed the classification of triangles by sides and angle measures: equilateral, isosceles, scalene, acute, right, obtuse. We will continue practicing converting between fractions, decimals, and percents and understanding the meaning of all of the skills within the real world context. If you ever have questions, please ask!
